The Irish National Folk Company dance ensemble from Dublin was founded in 1970 by Frank Whelan. It is directed by his wife, Angeline Whelan. Its main purpose is to promote Irish and international dance and to reinforce links between world’s communities.
Since its creation, the company has made more than 250 trips internationally and represented Ireland in 28 countries.
The ensemble counts 18 dancers with a majority of women. Dances are accompanied by accordions, bandoneón, violin and Celtic harp.
